What is microblanding?

The new technique promises to leave the eyebrows with a more natural look. The procedure is called Microblanding and it attracts precisely those who do not want to

The eyebrow does not always have the desired volume and definition, but there are several micropigmentation techniques that help to shape the eyebrow, hiding that flaw or the thin, short or thin natural shape. Microblanding, also called the hand tool or tebori, is growing in popularity for its very realistic result. We spoke with Fabiane Telles, Lady&Lord’s makeup artist who applies the innovative technique in Curitiba, and also with businesswoman Lorena Nogaroli, who has already tested the novelty and shares her impressions.

What is microblanding?

It is an ancient Japanese technique that, unlike micropigmentation with a dermograph, sculpts or “tattoos” the eyebrow with the aid of a tool that looks like a pen and is called Tebori. At the tip of this ‘pen’ is a blade with microneedles, between 7 and 21 in all. The number of needles is chosen according to each person’s thread thickness. Tebori makes the pigmentation in the form of threads, as if it were a natural thread, with the purpose of making the threads more perfect and the lines more realistic. It’s a procedure very similar to tattooing.

Who can do it?

There is no age restriction, but the client undergoes a prior evaluation, with extra attention to allergies. Only diabetic people who can’t do it.

Does microblanding hurt?

Fabiane guarantees that the pain is less than that felt in other micropigmentation techniques, as the pigment is installed between the first and second skin layers and there is no vibration of the device during the process, the trace made is more continuous.

How long does the procedure take?

Around an hour and a half and should be done together with an eyebrow designer to draw the eyebrow shape.

And how long does it last?

The fact that the pigment is installed between the first and second layers of the skin makes the durability a little lower, with an average of six months to a year and a half, depending on the skin and subsequent care.

What are these precautions?

Very similar to getting a tattoo. It is recommended to stay about 72 hours without wetting the place. It is necessary to apply ointments that stimulate healing and skin regeneration three times a day, for 15 days, because just like in a tattoo, the skin will try to expel the pigment. Do not let bark build up in the place and avoid sunbathing during the period.

How much?

The values vary between R$ 450 and R$ 580, but can reach R$ 620, according to the makeup artist.

The Microblanding technique is done with microneedles and so it looks like the process of a tattoo

Fabiane emphasizes that the technique is approved by Anvisa, both the pen and the pigments used. And she reminds that the professional chosen to apply the technique needs to be specialized in micropigmentation and already used to handling Tebori, in an environment that has all the necessary care and, of course, disposable needles.
